Michael Jorgensen, faculty recital: POSTPONED

Because of Lehigh University's current health precautions mandating cancellation or postponement of all classes and large public events through March 30. 2020, this event will be postponed until further notice. The event page will be updated as we receive further information.

The Italian word "partita" means dance suite: the pieces on this concert feature dances from across cultures, time, and place. Bach’s monumental Partita No. 2 in D Minor for Solo Violin, which turns 300 years old this year, features the famous Chaconne, one of the most important works for the violin. Bach’s collection of Baroque dances from Italy, Spain, and France is contrasted with Lehigh professor Paul Salerni’s modern take on the dance suite, a work for violin and guitar called Two Partita (the world premiere of a new arrangement). Violinist Jorgensen, guitarist Oren Fader (Theodore U. Horger ’61 Artist-in-Residence), and pianist Sohee Lee will also perform works by Manuel de Falla and Béla Bartók.
